Concert Artist Guild (USA) Expand . When it comes to developing the careers of emerging young artists in Europe and North America, the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) and New York’s Concert Artists Guild (CAG) share more than a century of experience. Young musicians have never faced greater obstacles in starting their careers, and most struggle to be seen and heard in today’s challenging global environment. The partnership offers a groundbreaking international platform for exceptional young classical musicians showcasing their talent and developing their careers. Drawing on this combined expertise and resource, artists benefit from unprecedented opportunities, helping them navigate and experience cultural marketplaces across the Atlantic. Alasdair Tait, Chief Executive & Artistic Director of YCAT, explains: “As we prepare to select our 2024 cohort of YCAT artists, it’s wonderful to be continuing our unique partnership with CAG in North America. As the relationship between the two organisations keeps building, we are looking at more and more ways we can share our experiences, helping to challenge and advise our artists on both sides of the Atlantic. We can't wait to see what incredible talent emerges from our joint auditions in summer 2024." Tanya Bannister, President of CAG, comments: “It’s fantastic for young musicians to have both CAG and YCAT working together to mentor and create opportunities. It’s imperative to explore increasing resources for musicians that help create unique and global points of view.” Learn more about CAG

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Expand YCAT is delighted to have a residency with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. As well as a series of concerts throughout the year, bringing each YCAT artists Wigmore Hall recital to the regions, artists also give masterclasses and work with students. We are thankful to the E J Thompson Memorial Fund for supporting this residency.
Royal Philharmonic Society Expand Royal Philharmonic Society/YCAT Philip Langridge Mentoring Scheme At the heart of Philip Langridge Mentoring Scheme is the development of a relationship between two musicians – not a teacher/pupil relationship, but one of colleagues. This is essentially something private and elusive and different musicians will respond in different ways. Without being prescriptive, PLMS aims to give space and encouragement to allow discussion of performance issues, exploration of repertoire and the exchange of ideas about interpretation. Philip Langridge CBE was a Trustee of both the RPS and YCAT and mentoring was something about which he was passionate, as a way that established soloists and ensembles could share their experience and help those starting out.
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Expand YCAT is delighted to have a residency with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Not only gives the artists vital opportunities to perform to a wider UK audience, but it also gives students the chance to work and learn from some of the most talented young professional musicians. In the masterclasses the students will perform in front of the visiting artist, who then give them invaluable and insightful feedback about their performance and technique. It was an absolutely cracking experience learning from someone who is my age and one of the best in the world at what he does
St George's Bristol Expand Throughout the season, YCAT artists will perform Lunchtime Concerts, bringing their Wigmore Hall recitals to the audiences of Bristol.
The Cosman Keller Art & Music Trust Expand YCAT is delighted to announce a transformational three-year partnership with The Cosman Keller Art & Music Trust. As part of the Trust’s String Quartet Project in memory of the musician and writer Hans Keller, the Trust will underpin YCAT’s work in supporting an inaugural YCAT Hans Keller Artist. The Trust is also supporting the creation of new works for string quartets. From the 1950s until the 1980s, Hans Keller played a unique role in the revitalisation of the quartet playing in Britain. According to Benjamin Britten “Hans Keller knows more about the string quartet, and understands it better, than anybody alive, composers and players included.” The year before he died, Keller was on the jury for the first YCAT Final Auditions in 1984 and returned again to judge the finalists in 1985, just weeks before he died.
UK Music Masters Expand UK Music Masters and Young Classical Artists Trust are extremely proud of our partnership which supports the shared aims of education, diversity, and inclusion within classical music. The Robey Artist represents exceptional performers from backgrounds currently under-represented in classical music. Through recommendation and selection, artists are identified from diverse backgrounds who exhibit the potential for a solo performing career. The Robey Artist undertakes an ambassadorial role within the LMM Learning Programme, working closely with the young learners to becoming an inspirational classical role model. After American violinist, Randall Goosby, and violist, Jordan Bak, we are delighted to introduce our next Robey Artist, cellist, Sterling Elliott, who joins YCAT’s roster of artists and takes on a UK Music Masters school residency. This twin investment in his performance career and his role as an ambassador for education are at the heart of this partnership. The partnership is further extended with a training programme led by Music Masters for YCAT artists helping them to build an authentic approach to community music-making. We aim to increase the confidence, skills, and creativity of these emerging artists enabling them to be as effective in the classroom as they are in the concert hall, across the whole of their career. Additionally, the two organisations will work with leading Diversity and Inclusion specialists to build more inclusive practices through a programme of trustee and staff training and the development of a Diversity and Inclusion roadmap.
