Concert Artist Guild (USA) Expand YCAT and Concert Artists Guild announce a new partnership When it comes to developing the careers of emerging young artists in Europe and North America, the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) and New York’s Concert Artists Guild (CAG) share more than a century of experience. Now, following the success of YCAT artists Jamal Aliyev and Tabea Debus at CAG’s most recent competition, the two organizations draw on their combined expertise to launch a new partnership that will allow them to offer young artists unprecedented new transatlantic opportunities, while also growing the resources available to help them. The collaboration is timely, for young musicians have never faced greater obstacles in starting their careers, and most struggle to be seen and heard in today’s challenging global environment. By joining forces, YCAT and CAG are confident that they can help these young artists navigate and connect cultural marketplaces on both sides of the Atlantic. Alasdair Tait, Chief Executive & Artistic Director of YCAT, explains: “As we prepare to select our next group of YCAT artists, it’s so exciting to be exploring ways of deepening our relationship with CAG. Rather than simply sharing artists, this is an opportunity for us to grow the creative opportunities available for young artists on both sides of the Atlantic and further our aligned missions of developing and challenging the landscape for 21st-century musicians.” Tanya Bannister, President of CAG, comments: “It’s fantastic for young musicians to have both CAG and YCAT working together to mentor and create opportunities. It’s imperative to explore increasing resources for musicians that help create unique and global points of view.” Learn more about CAG

London Music Masters Expand London Music Masters and Young Classical Artists Trust are excited to launch a new partnership which will support the shared aims of education, diversity and inclusion within classical music. The Robey Artist will represent exceptional performers from backgrounds currently under-represented in classical music. Through recommendation and selection, artists will be identified from diverse backgrounds who exhibit the potential for a solo performing career. The Robey Artist will undertake an ambassadorial role within the LMM Learning Programme, working closely with the young learners to becoming an inspirational classical role model. We are delighted to introduce the first Robey Artist – American violinist, Randall Goosby. Randall Goosby will join YCAT’s roster of artists and take on a London Music Masters school residency. This twin investment in his performance career and his role as an ambassador for education are at the heart of this partnership. The partnership is further extended with a training programme led by London Music Masters for YCAT artists helping them to build an authentic approach to community music making. We aim to increase the confidence, skills and creativity of these emerging artists enabling them to be as effective in the classroom as they are in the concert hall, across the whole of their career. Additionally, the two organisations will work with leading Diversity and Inclusion specialists to build more inclusive practices through a programme of trustee and staff training and the development of a Diversity and Inclusion roadmap.
Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Expand YCAT is delighted to have a residency with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. We are thankful to the E J Thompson Memorial Fund for supporting this residency.
Royal Philharmonic Society Expand Royal Philharmonic Society/YCAT Philip Langridge Mentoring Scheme At the heart of Philip Langridge Mentoring Scheme is the development of a relationship between two musicians – not a teacher/pupil relationship, but one of colleagues. This is essentially something private and elusive and different musicians will respond in different ways. Without being prescriptive, PLMS aims to give space and encouragement to allow discussion of performance issues, exploration of repertoire and the exchange of ideas about interpretation. Philip Langridge CBE was a Trustee of both the RPS and YCAT and mentoring was something about which he was passionate, as a way that established soloists and ensembles could share their experience and help those starting out.
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Expand YCAT is delighted to have a residency with the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. It was an absolutely cracking experience learning from someone who is my age and one of the best in the world at what he does
