Press reviews

The bassoon takes centre stage in these works and the result is absolutely captivating. Plath and Blettenberg make magic with Debussy and Franck sonatas; they seem made for the bassoon, even if they were in fact written for the violin.

BBC Music Magazine / 5 star review Lost Times CD / June 2021

... it is above all the lyrical qualities of his playing that fascinate....a musicality that goes far beyond what one usually associates with the bassoon. One senses in every measure that music is being made here with love and understanding.

Pizzicato / Lost Times CD with Aris Blettenberg / 2021

Plath is neither afraid of very short staccati, nor of Cantilenas with a great sound, but never cheesy. Fascinating is his brilliance not only in rapid series of ornamentations, no matter which speed and combination, every note is always perceptible.
