The Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in London have strengthened their partnership with Australian cellist and entrepreneur Chris Howlett, joining forces to explore exciting touring opportunities for YCAT artists around China and the Far East.

Chris Howlett, cellistHowlett is founder and Executive Producer of Australian International Productions, one of Australia’s largest exporters of classical music to China, presenting over 150 concerts in China per year.

As Artistic Director of the Bendigo Chamber Music Festival, which already has close ties with YCAT, and co-founder of the Australian Digital Concert Hall, Chris is a prominent figure in the Australian music landscape. With a passion for fostering musical excellence, he has been instrumental in promoting chamber music and creating unique performance opportunities for emerging artists.

Both YCAT and Howlett are excited about this partnership and the prospects it holds for offering new opportunities for young classical musicians. Through this collaboration, they aim to strengthen international connections in the music world, foster artistic growth, and create a lasting impact on the careers of the selected artists.

Alasdair Tait, CEO and Artistic Director of YCAT and fellow cellist comments:

Working with Chris, over the years, he has always provided YCAT artists with some of their most rewarding and stimulating performing experiences. His connections in China and the Far East will, without doubt, prove invaluable in bringing YCAT artists to an even wider reach of audiences and touring opportunities, essential as they develop as international performers.

Chris Howlett says of the collaboration:

YCAT is a very special arts organisation providing vital support and opportunities for the next generation of artistic leaders. It has been incredible to see these artists flourish under Alasdair and the team’s guidance and their performances at our festivals in Australia are always a highlight.  China and the Far East is without doubt one of the fastest growing markets in our industry and I am thrilled to be able to give the artists the opportunity to showcase their talents in mainland China and beyond.
