Established 30 years ago, the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) is the largest provider of Performing Arts Medicine in the UK with coverage across the four nations. They provide free clinical assessments for performers with health problems affecting their performing arts practice. Their support is focused on specialist clinical assessment to determine the correct diagnosis and best care pathway for a performer, providing clinical advice and referring onwards to experts in the field where necessary. They also run a health education programme with free sessions available online and bespoke sessions which can be booked for individual organisations.

As part of April 2022's mental health month, BAPAM have provided expert health and wellbeing resources for those working in the performing arts. These resources are accessible and free of charge.

"Sadly 70-75% of musicians will experience a mental health problem, and this is on the increase since COVID-19. Building healthy practice at an early stage will help reduce mental health problems and we are delighted to be working with YCAT on this important project." - Phoebe Butler, Training Assistant at BAPAM
