Since winning First Prize at the 2016 Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York, New Zealand-born violinist Benjamin Baker has established a strong international presence, with acclaimed solo, chamber and concerto appearances on five continents. His Delphian recording debut sees him joined by regular duo partner, and fellow past YCAT artist, Daniel Lebhardt.

The disc centres around the year 1942: the ways in which Aaron Copland, Francis Poulenc, and Sergei Prokofiev responded to a time of upheaval across the private and public spheres. These compositions - taken together - form striking examples of the power of the creative impulse born from destruction.
