YCAT is delighted to announce that the horn player Ben Goldscheider will be a European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) Rising Star during the 2021/22 season.

Nominated by the Barbican, Ben will give recitals at major venues across Europe. He will be given the opportunity to commission a new work especially for these concerts, and engage in music education, learning and participation projects.

Over the last year, Ben has made his debut with the Mozarteum Orchestra in the Mozartwoche Festival (Salzburg) and with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a prize winner at the 2019 YCAT International Auditions held at Wigmore Hall.

This season Ben records as a soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and with pianist/composer Huw Watkins in a CD marking Dennis Brain’s 100th anniversary.

He returns to Wigmore Hall, performs Britten’s Serenade at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Ligeti’s Horn Trio at the Pierre Boulez Saal.

A keen advocate for new music, he premieres new works by Huw Watkins, Guillem Palomar and Roxanna Panufnik and, as a member of the Pierre Boulez Ensemble, collaborates with François-Xavier-Roth, Zubin Mehta, Lahav Shani and Matthias Pintscher.

Ben is YCAT's inaugural Ann Driver Trust Artist.
