SESSION OUTLINE

As a performer, how do you convince promoters and potential audiences to share your musical journey?

This discussion and workshop will help you to build confidence in approaching venues and ensembles with your concert or project ideas. 

Topics will include:

  • How to prepare, research and target
  • How to approach venues and festivals
  • How to communicate your ideas effectively 
  • Embracing the expectations around diverse programming
  • The impact of COVID-19 on concert planning 
  • Programming for post-COVID

No prior preparation is required for the session, but do come equipped with questions and ideas.

GAETAN LE DIVELEC was born in Nantes, France, and has lived in London since 1986. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, he worked as a freelance oboist in London before joining the staff at Askonas Holt in 1999. As a Director at Askonas Holt, he managed artists including Sir András Schiff, Alina Ibragimova and Alisa Weilerstein. Over the years, he has been invited as guest speaker and seminar leader by a number of institutions including the Liszt Academy Budapest, the Institut d’études politiques de Paris, the Royal Academy of Music and Birkbeck College (University of London).



ABOUT YCAT CAREER COACHING

  • YCAT coaching sessions provide a unique opportunity for you to explore a range of ideas, skills, and concerns relevant to life as a 21cMusician.
  • Small groups to encourage focused discussion within a friendly and supportive environment. 
  • Sessions are designed for classical musicians between the ages of 21 and 35. 
  • Sessions are led by one of our affiliated coaches, who have a broad range of experience and expertise, and in-depth understanding of the music industry. 
  • Every session is different in terms of its focus, group capacity, coach and participants.
  • Sessions are free and currently held over Zoom.

To apply, please complete an enquiry form. You will be asked to provide:

  • A brief outline of education/career to date
  • In your own words, an issue or question that you would like to explore in the session. Be honest and direct in this brief submission (max 150 words).

We will contact you one week before the session to confirm your place, and with further information. Please note that we have limited capacity for each session. Where needed, we will prioritise attendees whose submissions demonstrate relevant concerns/interests/career stage.
