EXCITING JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC.

Three exciting Junior Fellowship opportunities are currently available at Trinity College of Music for the academic year 08-09. Applications are invited for the following programmes commencing in September 2008:

The Bulldog Junior Fellowship for String Quartet

The Richard Carne Junior Fellowship for Instrumental Chamber Ensemble

The Golubovich Junior Fellowship for Russian Chamber Music

Junior Fellowships are designed to offer outstanding ensembles the opportunity to bridge the gap between full-time conservatoire-based study and the music profession. During an intensive year-long period, Junior Fellows will have the means and time to enhance their professional skills and contacts whilst continuing their own development with the support of a Trinity College of Music mentor. As the needs of individual ensembles differ, the final programme will be decided through consultation with the relevant mentor, Head of Faculty and Head of Postgraduate Programmes.

Further details of the three fellowships, along with conditions of application, can be found on the TCM website at http://www.tcm.ac.uk/professionaldevelopment. The deadline for applications is Friday 16th May.

Rosemary Pickering receives the IAMA 2008 award 19 April, 2008

 Rosemary Pickering © Sussie Ahlburg

On the final night of the Association's 18th International Conference, the IAMA 2008 award went to Rosemary Pickering, Chief Executive of Young Concert Artists' Trust (YCAT). The award was handed over at the gala dinner held in the Museum of Communication, Berlin on 19th April by the Artistic Director of the Wigmore Hall, John Gilhooly. David Sigall, IAMA Board member and Director of Ingpen & Williams, in his speech to introduce the award, noted that it was due to Rosemary's dedication over the last 15 years that YCAT has continued to flourish and prepare so many world-class artists for the transition from amateur to profession status. Tribute was paid to the role non-profit managements fulfil in providing artists time to explore repertoire, gain performing experience and get ready for the pressures of professional life.
